I really want a new video camera so I can do some zooming and have less shake!  Oh well, these aren't bad considering they're taken from a little free camera we got from our bank!

GOAL!!! 10/09/2008

I just happened to have my camera pasted to my face when he made this shot!  He kicked that ball right passed three of the other kids!!!  His coach is right there in the jacket and gave him a big hug.   I am SOOOO happy I captured his first real goal during a game.  And we're sooo proud of him, he's the youngest one out there, too!  Whooo Hoooooo!

MINE!

I was just thinking of how I’d write a post about today’s spectacular event. MY son scored a goal during his soccer practice game.  No it wasn’t a fluke.  He aimed and he shot and then he scored.  I was the only one in the stands and very excitedly I “whoow who”ed him...probably to make up for a good 10 other folks.  Anyway, that’s neither here nor there…my point is that when I was thinking of writing this I got a kick out of the fact that I was going to write MY son, instead of our son.  Isn’t it always MY when it’s good?  And when it’s bad it’s always your bla bla bla, never is it bad with our bla bla or my bla bla.  Nope.  So I laughed.  Yes I did, I laughed out loud like I often do when I think something is funny.  An entire skit crossed my mind, a very Steve Martinny or that lady that played Dory in the Finding Nemo movie.  Can you believe I forgot her name?  Yes I know she just got married…Yes I know it’s to a woman.  I don’t live in a box, I just live in a see through bubble.

Sometimes my bubble distorts reality inside here, too.  Yes it happens.  Like yesterday I was showing my husband a picture I had taken of me…and he noticed my facial hair.  FACIAL HAIR, those two words shouldn’t even go together!!!  WHAT?!#@$%%  Ok folks, so I’m a mammal.  Welcome to the world.  At least it’s blonde, but really I had no idea.  Then he made me …ok no he didn’t make me, but doesn’t it sound better, walk over to the mirror and look at myself.  I really looked.  I didn’t see me.  I saw some old hairy lady staring back.  Very weird.

But then I came to my senses, you see, I think it was just my bubble distorting reality in here.  I’ve never had nor will I ever have facial…ah hem…. hair.

But I’m certain that my very athletic son will one day have facial hair and love it.

  Long live handle bar mustaches!

Finding Time 10/09/2008

A month spins right by me...can you imagine what a day feels like?  And I'm told time speeds up as we age.  Come on, what's a day going to belike when I'm 52?  My husband says there's  not enough time in the day and I can understand why he thinks that.  I can remember being in high school, about 15 years old, and thinking 10 minutes to wait for anything was a life time.  Now I love to wait, gives me time to think and collect my thoughts.  Hold on guys`~ I set myself up there, ha,  I’m  always thinking~ but being able to actually collect them- my thoughts that is- is something rare and I treasure it.  Ok, I must confess, I stole away 10 minutes yesterday which I never do and so the first minute I laid there and felt guilty, but then…and just in that little bit of time that was supposed to be for me to rest, I thought up a story for a short film and I wrote it out.  I absolutely love it.  Imagine what I could write with more 10 minutes in my days!  Yes, where there is a will there is a way!  Ha, if only there was a producer where there was my script!  I think if that were so I'd manage to find more 10 minutes!!  Time is so relative.

And speaking of relatives, My great Aunt Claris just turned 100 years old a couple weeks ago!  Her mind is still as quick as a whip and she has me chuckling every time we get on the phone together.  Maybe next time I’ll bring up script writing and she twirl up a good yarn I could embellish.  After all, that won’t take her any time at all!

Well time for bed!

Finding Water 10/06/2008

We found water.  Well not really we, as in me, too, but we in general.  Specifically O Andras Moo found water.  (Greek for my husband).  Yes, he went with the seller of the land where we're going to build our house, and the seller took out two metal rods and picked up some pebbles, then he started walking around and finding water.  My husband tried it and he found the water, too.  The rods actually come together when they are suspended over the water, and the pebbles can gauge just how deep the well will have to be drilled.

Well, ha, pun intended...two days ago some geologist type folks were there with their precision instruments and sure enough agreed there was water under that land.  Hooray, we will start to drill for water and there is plenty for all three houses we're going to build!  Hip hip hooray!  On top of that, a friend of ours says this winter is going to be very rainy...so that's good, it'll fill up our underground resevoir.  Right now the water level is about 40 meters down.  This friend of ours says there's been a drought in Greece for a good while now and his water level in his well was at one point just one meter down and now he says he can see the bottom and it's a good 15 meters down.  So, it's great that we have found water in such a dry period!  Whew.

Bring on the garden!!!

Gymnastics! 10/04/2008

Ah, isn't Greece well known for gymnastics?  I don't know, but when I think of Greece I see naked men wrestling...too many trips to the tourist shop perhaps.  Well now our son is taking gymnastics.  He gets to wear clothes and girls are in his class as well.  My how time changes things.  So anyway, it was backward roll time and he wasn't going to have anything to do with it.  So I called him over and explained to him in a very hush voice, although it wouldn't have mattered if I screamed it because after all I was speaking in English and this is Greece...but I told him in a hush voice none the less, that he must do this backward roll because actually, this is a secret super hero school.  His eyes widened.  His frown flipped over.  Yes, I kept lying.  All super heros have to go to these schools to learn all their moves.  This backward roll I've seen the Power Rangers do all the time!!!  Well that did it, he took off like a...well like a Super Hero and in a flash he was back in line and ready to roll!

Next time I'll bring the camera...and hey maybe after the kids gym if we hang out long enough, the adult class will start...perhaps like the old days?  If so, I'll sneak another shot!  ha ha

Then they say Hey what was that flash and I'll point down at my little super hero kid, (you know he'll be sportin some sort of cape for round 2!) and  make them think he just did something in a flash.  Ha ha ha  ok, I'm just entertaining myself here.  I think I got up too early!

Gialova 10/03/2008

HA, I see that I named this Methoni Evening...but where's the castle?  Oops, this must be Gialova...and indeed it is!  Terrible resolution, wrongly named, but I love it!  Taken on Oct. 1st I believe.  Very Octobery sky, no?
